Keeping Tabs
Cool things are happening on the Internet. And you are missing out. That’s where I come in: I’m a reporter and journalist trying to keep tabs on everything coming at me from news organizations, music producers, companies, government agencies, artists, designers, marketing, advertising and more. In a weekly newsletter I’m gathering and sharing these online projects.
Some recent issues:
I’ve seen how much more engaging a story or set of facts becomes when it’s more than just a headline, picture and words on a page.
Formatting, layout and packaging are becoming as important as the content to engage an audience, get them into the piece and have them share it and spread the word.
I’m doing the leg work for you and putting as many of thse interactive, or multimedia, or immersive, or whatever you want to call them, website together in one place. I’m culling through the dense world of the Internet to bring out the sites that are worth looking at. I’m showing you things that are a little different and breaking out of the mold.
Subscribe to the Keeping Tabs newsletter for a regular roundup of interactive projects. It’s time to keep up.

Proud San Franciscan, born and raised. Covering everything happening on the internet for Mashable.
Previously at SFGate, my hometown newspaper’s website where I put content online and edited the homepage.
I’m a former breaking news reporter at Bay City News Service where I covered all things SF from government, crime, politics, transportation, courts, health, and more.
I’m a graduate from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, where I studied multimedia journalism. For undergrad, I studied communication, art history and psychology at UC Davis. During my time at Davis I wrote and edited for The California Aggie, The Davis Enterprise, KCRA, served at Sen. Steinberg’s legislative office, worked at the campus bookstore, the UCDC program and more.
During my time at the Berkeley J-school, I covered Oakland politics, local business, and learned visual reporting and web skills. I’ve produced radio shows and episodes for North Gate Radio on KALX and was a features reporter at the Chicago Tribune.
Special projects I’ve gotten involved with in the past year include:
- fact-checking for California Magazine, the UC Berkeley alumni magazine;
- creating audio alerts for consumers with the California Department of Justice;
- building my newsletter, Keeping Tabs, all about interactive online projects.
You can usually find me reading, at the gym, eating, carrying too many bags, on the bus, and with a coupon in hand.
